About IIT JAM 2023: What is IIT JAM Exam
IIT JAM (Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test) is a national level exam which is organized for providing admission in M.Sc. IIT JAM 2023 is being conducted by IIT, Guwahati. IIT JAM Exam 2023 Registration (JOAPS)
The registration process for IIT Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2023 will begin on September 7, 2022.
- IIT JAM Registration – Applicant need to Register as “New User”. Enter your name, email address, mobile number and password for registration. After successful registration, you will get access to JOAPS with the credentials you entered.
- IIT JAM Application Form – Login using JOAPS Enrollment ID and JOAPS Password and start filling the IIT JAM 2023 application form.
- Upload Documents – Upload Photograph, Signature and other documents like Graduation Certificate / Certificate from Principal, SC/ST Certificate and PwD Certificate (if applicable) etc.
- Payment of Fees – Applicant can make the payment through credit card, debit card or net banking.

- Nationality Certificate: Birth Certificate or Voter ID or First page of Passport or School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing nationality issued by the authorized government agency or Aadhaar Card.
- Please note that any other documents, Ration Card, Driving License, College/ Institute/ School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN Card, Mark sheets are not considered.

- The photograph and signature uploaded during the time of applying for the JAM 2020 Examination will be used for the admission process.
- Any application which is incomplete in any respect and does not have the required valid documents will be summarily rejected.

IIT JAM Exam Eligibility
Candidates who qualify in JAM 2023 must fulfill the following Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admissions to IITs.
- Candidates should have passed an undergraduate degree or should be currently studying in their final year of undergradue programme. Proof of having passed the undergraduate degree should be submitted by September 29, 2023
- Candidates promoted without a marksheet should produce a certificate stating the subjects studied in that semester/year duly signed by the Head of the Institute.
- Foreign nationals with Indian degree are eligible to apply, subject to policy of the Admitting Institute.
At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. The admitted candidates may also have to undergo a Physical Fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. Admission is liable to be cancelled if a candidate is found physically unfit to pursue their chosen course of study.
NOTE:
- It is responsibility of the candidates to prove that they satisfy the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admission.
- The Admitting Institute has the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of candidates who are found to have been admitted to a Programme to which they are not entitled, being unqualified or ineligible in accordance with the rules and regulations in effect.

IIT JAM Exam Pattern
Pattern of Examination
The JAM 2023 Examination for all the seven Test Papers will a Computer Based Test (CBT) where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen. For all the seven Test Papers, the duration of the examination will be of 3 hours. The medium for all the Test Papers will be English only. There will be a total of 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The entire paper will be divided into three sections A, B and C. All sections are compulsory. Questions in each section will be of different types as given below:

- Section – A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Candidates can mark the answer by clicking the choice.

- Section – B contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) carrying two marks each. Each MSQ is similar to MCQ but with the difference that MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice(s) out of the four given choices. The candidate gets full credit only if he/she selects all the correct answer(s) and no wrong answers. Candidates can mark the answer(s) by clicking the choice(s).

- Section – C contains a total of 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each. For these NAT type questions, the answer is a signed real number, which needs to be entered using the virtual numeric keypad on the monitor. No choices will be shown for NAT questions.
- In all sections, questions not attempted will result in zero mark. In Section – A (MCQ), wrong answer will result in negative marks. For each wrong answer to 1-mark questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted and similarly for each wrong answer to 2-mark questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted. In Section – B (MSQ), there are no negative and no partial marking provisions. There is no negative marking in Section – C (NAT) as well.

The application fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable. Payments have to be made online by using net banking / debit card / credit card / wallet / UPI / etc.

IIT JAM Scorecard
After the result is declared the candidates will be able to download their scorecards. The portals will be open from March 2023. To download the results the students have to visit the official website because any hard copy of the scorecard will be not provided to the candidates by any means. The information mentioned in the scorecard is the All India Rank and the score obtained by the candidate in the IIT JAM examination.
IIT JAM 2023 Results
The results of IIT JAM are declared by the authority every year after the exam has been conducted this year it’s on 22nd March 2023. An All India Merit list is prepared according to the rank of the candidates for individual test papers. To check the result the applicants can log in with their credentials which are the Email ID or enrollment ID and password.

The admit card of IIT JAM 2023 will be released by IIT Guwahati by the third week of January. Only those candidates who will successfully complete the application process by paying the application fee will be eligible to download the IIT JAM 2023 admit card.
