The GATE 2023 Exam Notification has been released by the conducting authority (IIT Kanpur) on July 27, 2022 along with the official brochure, registration date, and application form dates. Earlier, GATE exam 2023 dates were released. The exam will be conducted on the 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th of February 2023 for 29 Engineering branches across various centers in India. GATE exam 2023 will be conducted by IIT Kanpur.
IIT Kanpur is scheduled to release GATE 2023 Application Form on August 30, 2022. As per GATE Eligibility Criteria, a candidate who is currently in the third year of their graduation or has completed their graduation is eligible to apply for the exam. The last date to register for GATE 2023 without any late fee is September 30, 2022. Candidates can apply online at gate.iitk.ac.in through GATE Login (GOAPS).

About GATE 2023: What is Gate Exam
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national examination conducted to test the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering /Technology / Architecture and both undergraduate and post-graduate level subjects in Arts, Commerce and Science. GATE 2023 will be conducted for 29 subjects (also referred to as “papers”) and it would be distributed over Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th, Saturday 11th and Sunday12th of February 2023. The GATE 2023 examination is conducted in different cities across India as well selected cities in the countries of Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, and UAE. The examination would be a Computer Based Test (CBT). The GATE score would reflect the relative performance level of the candidate in a particular
subject. Note that the GATE 2023 score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results. No information on the GATE 2023 score will be available after this period.

• GATE 2023 will be conducted for 29 subjects (also referred to as “papers”).
• Examination for all the 29 subjects (papers) will be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT).
• The Computer Based Test examination papers will contain some questions of (i) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type, where only one option out of four options is correct. Remaining questions may be of (ii) Multiple Select Question (MSQ) type, where one or more than one options out of four options is/are correct, and / or (iii) Numerical Answers Type (NAT) where answer must be keyed in by the candidate using a virtual keypad. The candidates will use ONLY an on-screen virtual calculator provided for the examination.
• A candidate can appear in ANY ONE or UP TO TWO papers of the GATE examination. However, note that the combination of TWO papers in which a candidate can appear MUST be selected from the pre-defined list as given in Table 4.3. Even if a candidate is appearing for TWO
papers, the candidate should fill ONLY ONE application form.
• GATE 2023 examinations will be held during the forenoon and afternoon sessions on Saturday4th, Sunday 5th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of February 2023.
• Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2023 may be held in multiple sessions. However, a candidate will be required to appear for the examination in ONLY one of the multiple sessions of the same paper.

GATE 2023 Notification has been released on July 27, 2022. The Organizing Institute usually releases GATE Notification on the last Sunday of July, however this year, IIT Kanpur has already released the notification on July 27, 2022 (Wednesday). GATE 2023 Notification has been released by IIT Kanpur, GATE 2023 Organising Institute, on the official website- gate.iitk.ac.in.

GATE Exam 2023 Registration(GOAPS)
After opening the GATE 2023 application process, candidates must register in the GOAPS portal. The registration process is expected to start on the 30 August 2022. Candidates must note that GATE registration is accepted online only through the GOAPS portal or official website.

GATE Exam Eligibility
Candidates must know the GATE exam eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The eligibility criteria for the GATE 2023 exam carry educational qualification, age limit and passing percentage. The candidates who possess the following criteria are eligible to appear in GATE.
Educational Qualification
To apply for the GATE entrance exam, a candidate must possess either of the mentioned qualification(s). However, the educational qualification has been relaxed for the exam. The students studying in the 3rd or final years of any undergraduate degree are now eligible for the examination. Also, students who have already completed any degree program approved by the Government in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, or Arts are eligible to appear for the GATE 2023 examination.

As per the revised GATE eligibility criteria, you must have a minimum qualification of 10+2+3. In the final year of graduation, candidates are also eligible to apply for the GATE entrance examination.
Candidates pursuing or have passed their graduation in either Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce or Arts in a relevant discipline can apply for the course.
Pass Percentage
No minimum pass percentage criteria are defined to apply for the GATE exam 2023.
Age Limit
There is no age limit defined to apply for the GATE exam 2023.
Nationality
You should have Indian nationality to apply for GATE 2023. Candidates from Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are also eligible for the GATE.
GATE Eligibility Criteria for International Students
Candidates living in Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are eligible to apply for GATE. Candidates from these countries must have completed or be in their final year or the pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or equivalent.

There are 11 chapters in the GATE Mathematics Syllabus. Each chapter has many subtopics. The complete syllabus of Mathematics paper is given below.
Section 1: Calculus
- Functions of two or more variables, continuity, directional derivatives, partial derivatives, total derivative, maxima and minima, saddle point, method of Lagrange’s multipliers;

What is the Fee for the GATE Exam?
The application fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable. Payments have to be made online by using net banking / debit card / credit card / wallet / UPI / etc. As per the prevailing norms, additional online transaction charges or bank charges may be applicable. These charges will be specified on the payment portal. The application fee for the GATE exam for different categories is given below in the table. You must pay the GATE application fee online only before the closing date. If you pay the exam fee for GATE 2023 after the application closing date, you will have to pay the fee along with the fine as depicted in the table below.

GATE Scorecard
After the declaration of results, GATE 2023 Scorecards of the qualified candidates can be downloaded free of cost between 21st March 2023 to 31st May 2023 from the GATE 2023 website. It is highly recommended that a softcopy of the scorecard is safely stored by the candidate for all the future uses. In case, GATE qualified candidates require the softcopy of their GATE Scorecard after 31st May 2023 and till 31st December 2023, they MUST pay a fee of ₹ 500 (Rupees five hundred only) per paper for obtaining the same. From 1st January 2024 onwards, NO scorecard will be issued for GATE 2023 qualified candidates.
GATE 2023 Results
GATE 2023 results will be announced on 16th March 2023 and will be available on the GATE 2023 Website. GATE 2023 score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results. No information on the GATE 2023 score will be available after this period.
GATE Exam Admit Card 2023
The GATE admit card download link will be available on 3 January 2023. before the exam. The prior release of the admit card is to resolve any discrepancies in the candidates’ personal information mentioned in the admit card. The GATE organizing authority IIT Kanpur will issue the GATE 2023 admit card for the applicants. You need GOAPS Enrollment ID and password to download your GATE admit card. Make sure you carry your admit card at the exam hall; without the admit card, entry to the exam hall is strictly prohibited.

GATE Opportunities
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the Masters Program and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies. Some of the possible opportunities for GATE qualified candidates are :
- Admission: Valid GATE score can be used for seeking admission to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts; and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies
- Financial Assistance: Qualified GATE score can be used for seeking financial assistance towards the (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts; and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.
